Salah (Prayer) is one of the pillars of Islam. Quran and Hadith have placed a great emphasis on the establishment of prayer. Several verses of the Holy Quran discuss the importance of prayer. Similarly, countless Ahadith of the prophet Muhammad sallallaho alaih wa Sallam dea; with this act of worship are mentioned. Although there is no difference of views regarding the fact that prayer is obligatory, scholars of various schools of thought have different opinions about some actions performed during prayer (salah), such as: raising hands at some points, etc. Placing hands in Qiyam (standing position of Salah) is one of the controversial topics. Some scholars are of the view that hands should be placed on the chest, while others say that they should be under naval. Both sides have arguments from Hadith. Many scholars have written books on the topics both in favor and against it. A great scholar of Sindh, Makhdoom Qaim Thatwi has also written on this topic, titled: “Fouzul Kiram. He has discussed the topic in detail and refuted the opponent’s arguments. This is a comprehensive book about this topic, which was studied and praised by many scholars. Some of them mentioned this book in their books and used it as a reference.
