Abstract

The theory of freedom for both the genders is a recent contemplation but equality is a concept traced back to the times of ancient Arab. This article focused on the work of a female Arab poet and author known as May Ziade who raised her voice against the gender discrimination. May Ziade throughout her life fought against the world for the basic rights of women. Her contribution in constructing the lives of Arab women is evaluated in this paper through literature review approach. The findings of the literature review focused on the work of May Ziade which state that throughout her life she fought against the world for the basic rights of women and raised voice for people who were not given their desired status and respect. She wrote at times of male presiding society Ziade looked for equality for women by asking questions on cultural values and traditions.
